Maaman Gitanee is a Matriarchical Haida clan, that grew its roots on the lands of Haida Gwaii.

 

Our owner Lena Mallary Russ grew up on those lands, surrounded by a lineage of strong Haida women. Lena is the mother of 2 beautiful children, they drive her to challenge herself and motivate her to help facilitate success in the community. She believes there is so much value in learning by example. Growing up with a foundation of culture and Indigenous history, Lena has used these experiences to build and develop success in a wide variety of businesses.

 

Lena has 18 years of hospitality experience, including opening 7 new restaurants. 

Over the last 10 years, Lena has dedicated her time to cultivating growth in Indigenous governance, family services, business development and grant management.

 

This company was created with the desire to encourage, inspire and help those who need guidance in their next steps. Lena uses culturally appropriate approaches, based on trust and integrity. She meets every new client with an eager mind. She assesses where they are at, in order to get them where they want to go. Together, they will take an organic approach to building new pathways of success and a rooted foundation from which your business can continue to grow.
